NDMA Warns Of Stormy Rains Starting Thursday

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert in anticipation of stormy rains expected to affect various parts of the country from Thursday until April 29. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, posing potential risks of flooding and landslides across multiple regions.

Balochistan is particularly vulnerable to flooding, especially in rain-fed rivers such as Noshki, Pishin, Harnai, and Zhob. Likewise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on high alert for potential flooding in local rivers like Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, and Kohistan. Concerns about landslides have also been raised in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Guliat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In light of the impending adverse weather conditions, the NDMA has advised farmers to be cautious during wheat harvesting activities. This advice has been echoed by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), stressing the importance of ensuring farmers’ safety amidst the challenging weather.

Given the looming risks of floods and landslides in several areas, proactive measures are crucial to mitigate potential damages and safeguard communities. The NDMA is closely monitoring the situation and providing necessary guidance to minimize the impact of the upcoming stormy weather.
