LDA Seals 154 Properties in Lahore Over Illegal Commercial Use

The LDA has launched a major enforcement operation against illegal commercial properties across areas under its jurisdiction. The Lahore Development Authority sealed 154 properties during a citywide crackdown aimed at controlling unauthorized commercial activities.

The operation was carried out following directions from LDA Director General Tahir Farooq. The Town Planning Wing led the campaign to ensure compliance with approved planning rules and regulations.

Officials conducted the operation in several important areas of Lahore. These included Gulberg, New Garden Town, New Muslim Town, Gujjarpura, Gulshan Ravi, Revenue Society, Naz Town, and Sabzazar. The action was supervised by Chief Town Planner-I Asad Zaman and Chief Town Planner-II Azhar Ali.

According to officials, 27 properties were sealed in Gulberg and New Garden Town. These properties were being used for commercial purposes without proper approval from the authorities. The LDA also sealed 50 properties in New Muslim Town, Gujjarpura, and Gulshan Ravi for illegal commercial activities and non-payment of required commercialisation fees.

The authority further sealed 42 properties in Revenue Society and 20 properties in Naz Town. These properties were found violating commercial use regulations. In Sabzazar, 15 properties were sealed during a separate recovery operation due to unpaid outstanding dues.

The sealed properties included various types of businesses and institutions. These included private schools, academies, colleges, pharmacies, clinics, laboratories, grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, bakeries, beauty salons, electrical shops, auto workshops, offices, and other commercial establishments.

Officials said property owners must follow legal procedures before converting residential properties into commercial spaces. They are required to obtain approval and pay applicable commercialisation charges according to regulations.

The LDA stated that the operation is part of its ongoing efforts to regulate urban development in Lahore. Authorities said unauthorized commercial activities can affect city planning and create problems for residents.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq said strict action would continue against illegal commercial buildings. He added that properties failing to meet planning requirements or those with unpaid commercialisation fees would face enforcement measures.

The authority has assured that action will continue across different areas of Lahore. Officials said the purpose of the campaign is to improve compliance with planning laws and ensure organized development in the city.
