Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stern warning to the United States, saying Tehran is prepared for “more surprises” if military conflict resumes between the two countries.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Araghchi said Iran had learned important lessons from recent tensions and would respond differently in any future war. He warned that renewed hostilities could bring unexpected consequences for Washington and its allies.
The Iranian foreign minister also claimed that Iran’s armed forces had successfully targeted advanced military assets during previous confrontations. According to him, Iran became the first country to shoot down the highly advanced Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter jet, which he described as a major achievement for the country’s military capabilities.
Araghchi further stated that the US Congress had acknowledged the loss of several aircraft worth billions of dollars during regional conflicts involving Iran. His comments came amid rising tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and growing concerns about the possibility of renewed military escalation in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump repeated his warning that Iran has only a limited amount of time to reach a nuclear agreement with Washington. Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said the United States would never allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and stressed that military action remained an option if diplomacy failed.
Trump also revealed that he had earlier planned military action against Iran but delayed the move following requests from regional allies, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. He indicated that the coming days could be critical for negotiations between the two sides as tensions continue to rise across the region.
