Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating that any violation of the recently signed peace agreement would be met with a strong and decisive response from Tehran. His remarks come as both countries begin the next phase of implementing the landmark accord aimed at ending hostilities and reducing tensions in the region.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Ghalibaf emphasized that Iran would closely monitor every aspect of the agreement to ensure all commitments are fulfilled. He stated that Iranian authorities had been tasked by the country’s leadership to oversee the implementation process and safeguard national interests throughout the negotiations.
“We are at your command; the task assigned to us by the Supreme Leader is to pursue the realization of the conditions and clauses of the agreement,” Ghalibaf wrote. The statement reflected Iran’s determination to ensure that the terms of the deal are carried out as agreed and without delay.
The Iranian parliament speaker also warned against what he described as possible “bad faith” or “excessive demands” from the opposing side. According to Ghalibaf, Tehran would not hesitate to respond forcefully if it believes the agreement is being undermined. He referred to past confrontations during the conflict and suggested that any future escalation would trigger an even stronger reaction from Iran.
The memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran outlines several major commitments. These include a permanent end to hostilities, the removal of the US naval blockade within 30 days, the restoration of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a reconstruction program valued at more than $300 billion, and the lifting of US sanctions imposed on Iran.
Under the agreement, both sides have entered a 60-day negotiation period aimed at securing a comprehensive final settlement. Face-to-face negotiations are scheduled to begin in Switzerland, with Pakistan and Qatar acting as mediators. While the peace process represents a significant diplomatic breakthrough, recent statements from both sides indicate that trust remains fragile and the success of the agreement will depend heavily on its implementation in the coming weeks.
