Iran says it has launched a series of military operations targeting American assets in the region following recent US strikes inside southern Iran. The development marks another rise in tensions between the two countries.
In a statement, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters said several US positions were targeted as part of a retaliatory response. Iranian officials described the actions as a direct reaction to what they called American aggression. However, no official information was provided regarding the level of damage caused.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed that recent US attacks damaged a telecommunications tower in Sirik and destroyed two water storage tanks. The force also stated that it carried out a drone operation against the US Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain.
Iran warned that further American military action would result in a stronger response. Officials said the country was prepared to defend itself against any future attacks.
According to reports, Iran also claimed to have downed a US MQ-9 drone over the Jam area. In another operation, Iranian media reported missile strikes against the US Al-Azraq base in Jordan.
Iranian officials said four locations inside the facility were targeted. These reportedly included shelters used by F-35 fighter jets and a command-and-control center. The attack was said to involve long-range missiles.
The latest claims have brought increased attention to American Military Bases across the Middle East. Several facilities have been placed on high alert due to rising regional tensions.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also claimed responsibility for a drone strike targeting Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. However, Kuwaiti authorities said their air defense systems were actively intercepting hostile threats and monitoring the situation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized the United States. In a statement shared on X, he said Washington should leave the region if it wanted to avoid further confrontation.
He added that Iran’s armed forces would respond to any attack or threat. Araghchi stressed that Tehran would not remain silent if its security was challenged.
The comments came shortly after US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it had carried out self-defense strikes against Iranian targets on June 9. The operation followed the reported downing of a US Army Apache helicopter.
According to CENTCOM, American forces struck Iranian air defense systems, surveillance radar sites, and ground control stations near the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes were conducted using precision-guided munitions launched from US Air Force and Navy aircraft.
The United States described the operation as a proportional response to recent attacks on US personnel and commercial vessels in regional waters.
