Iran Refuses New Talks Until USA Fulfills MoU Commitments

Iran has ruled out participating in any further negotiations until the commitments outlined in the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) are fully implemented. Speaking to Iranian media, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran’s current diplomatic efforts are focused exclusively on ensuring that all agreed obligations under the MoU are fulfilled before any new round of discussions takes place.

Ghalibaf said Iranian officials are engaged solely in monitoring and facilitating the implementation of the agreement rather than negotiating new issues. He stressed that Iran will not return to the negotiating table until the conditions specified in the memorandum have been honored, reaffirming Tehran’s stance that implementation must come before any future dialogue.

The Iranian parliament speaker also announced that a joint committee involving Iran, the United States, and Lebanon would be established to oversee the implementation of arrangements related to the end of the conflict in Lebanon. He said the committee would monitor compliance with agreed measures and help coordinate efforts among the parties involved in implementing the provisions of the understanding.

Discussing the country’s economy, Ghalibaf said Iran has exported more than 40 million barrels of oil since the end of the maritime blockade. He added that Iranian oil is now being sold at prices approximately 20 percent higher than before, describing the increase as a positive development for the country’s energy sector and export revenues.

On the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf reiterated that Iran would not compromise on what it considers its sovereign rights over the strategic waterway. He said the memorandum allows ships to pass through the strait without charges for a temporary period of 60 days, after which maritime traffic will continue under regulations enforced by Iran. He also stated that sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is shared by Iran and Oman.

Meanwhile, US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Doha, where they are expected to meet with mediators to discuss the latest developments. However, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said no direct meeting between the American and Iranian delegations has been scheduled. Iran’s Foreign Ministry also confirmed that its delegation is present in Doha but denied reports that talks with US officials are planned at this stage.
