Iran Grants Free Visa Facility to Pakistanis for Khamenei Funeral

Iran has introduced a special visa facility for Pakistani citizens who wish to attend the funeral and mourning ceremonies of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The move is intended to facilitate travel for visitors planning to participate in the upcoming events.

Under the new arrangement, Iran will waive the standard visa fee for eligible Pakistani applicants. However, travelers will still need to complete the visa application process and receive official approval before entering the country.

The facility does not provide visa-free entry. Pakistani nationals must apply for a visa through the official Iran electronic visa portal and wait for approval before making travel arrangements.

According to available information, applicants should select the “Entry Visa” category while completing the online form. They are also advised to clearly mention that their purpose of travel is to attend the funeral or related mourning ceremonies.

Several supporting documents are required for the application process. Applicants must provide a copy of their CNIC and proof of their educational or professional status. This may include an employee card, business card, or student identification card.

A recent passport-sized photograph with a white background must also be uploaded. Authorities have indicated that a clear photo taken with a mobile phone may be accepted if it meets the required specifications.

In addition, applicants must submit a digital copy of their passport’s information page. The passport should remain valid for at least six months from the date of travel.

Travelers are required to explain the purpose of their visit in the application form. Officials have advised applicants to provide accurate information to avoid delays or rejection.

Although Iran has waived the visa fee, approval remains mandatory. Travelers should not purchase confirmed airline tickets until their visa application has been approved.

Reports suggest that the current facility mainly applies to travelers entering Iran by air. Details regarding entry through the Taftan border crossing have not been fully clarified.

Some reports also indicate that applicants may need to obtain separate travel or medical insurance. Therefore, certain costs may still apply despite the visa fee exemption.

Authorities have encouraged travelers to verify requirements with the Iranian Embassy or relevant consulates before applying. Applicants should also use only the official Iran eVisa platform and avoid agents claiming guaranteed approvals.
