Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan is determined to become a strong economic power while remaining ready to defend its national interests against any external threat.

Speaking to reporters after attending a ceremony at Data Darbar in Lahore, Ishaq Dar outlined the government’s economic vision and emphasized the importance of national security and regional stability.

He said Pakistan is working to strengthen its economy through reforms and responsible policies. According to him, the country’s leadership remains focused on improving economic performance and creating long-term stability.

During his remarks, Ishaq Dar also delivered a strong message regarding national defense. He stated that Pakistan would respond firmly to any country or force that attempts to harm its interests or security.

The foreign minister also discussed Pakistan’s role during the recent tensions between the United States and Iran. He said Pakistan acted as a facilitator and helped maintain communication between both sides during a difficult period.

According to Dar, Pakistan played an important part in encouraging dialogue between Washington and Tehran. He noted that direct engagement between the two countries had remained limited for decades, making diplomatic efforts especially significant.

He thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their contributions to these diplomatic initiatives. Dar said their efforts helped support regional peace and encouraged constructive engagement.

Discussing foreign policy, he reiterated that Pakistan follows the principles of the United Nations Charter. He said the country supports peaceful conflict resolution and respects the sovereignty of all nations.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan believes every country deserves equal respect regardless of its size or global influence. He added that promoting peace and stability remains a key objective of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Referring to the recent conflict involving Iran, he said Pakistan quickly condemned attacks on the country and maintained its consistent position in favor of regional peace.

The deputy prime minister also commented on the federal budget and the broader economic situation. He said the government has provided relief measures for salaried individuals and businesses to support economic activity.

According to Dar, the current administration inherited a difficult economic environment. However, he said significant progress has been made in stabilizing key economic indicators and restoring confidence.
