TEHRAN – Citizens of Iran and Tajikistan will soon be able to travel to each other’s countries without a visa, as the final date for implementing this liberty has been announced. Starting August 10, travelers from both nations can visit each other’s territories visa-free for up to 90 days per year, with an initial stay limit of 30 days. This agreement follows a landmark deal signed by the two countries to abolish visa requirements.
Initially, the visa-free scheme will apply to travelers using the Dushanbe-Tehran and Tehran-Dushanbe air routes. While Iran has been easing visa restrictions for various countries, the visa-free regime with Tajikistan was an initiative envisioned by the late President Ebrahim Raisi. The Ministries of Iran and Tajikistan are now working to finalize the implementation of this travel pact.

Discussions on the visa-free issue between Iran and Tajikistan have been ongoing for months. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Dushanbe in November last year during Ebrahim Raisi’s official visit, and the recent official announcement indicates that the visa-free regime will soon take effect.
