The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a reduction in the per-unit price of electricity for July. The CPPA has proposed a 31 paisa per unit decrease under the fuel price adjustment mechanism.
If approved, this reduction would be reflected in electricity bills for one month, offering some financial relief to consumers amid rising living costs and energy prices. The CPPA attributed the proposed decrease to fluctuations in fuel prices during July.

Nepra has scheduled a hearing on August 28 to review the CPPA’s request. The outcome of this hearing will determine whether the reduced tariff will be implemented for the specified period, potentially easing the financial burden on consumers. The final decision is pending the regulatory authority’s assessment during the hearing.
