Despite the government’s officially approved rates, LPG prices continue to increase across Punjab, including Lahore, with many retailers selling the fuel well above the notified price.
According to market reports, the official LPG price has been set at Rs308 per kilogram. However, consumers in Lahore are reportedly paying between Rs480 and Rs500 per kilogram, significantly higher than the government-approved rate.
Sources say many retailers are raising LPG prices by Rs10 to Rs20 per kilogram almost every day without official approval. The continuous increase has placed an additional financial burden on households that rely on LPG for daily cooking and other domestic needs.
Reacting to the situation, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government would take strict action against individuals and businesses involved in black-market sales and overpricing. He stated that notices are being issued to LPG marketing companies, while the relevant authorities have been instructed to ensure the official price list is strictly enforced.
The minister also directed officials to intensify action against hoarding and profiteering to prevent consumers from being charged excessive prices and to stabilize the LPG market across the province
