[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has granted the Punjab caretaker government power to make appointments and transfers.

The panel also granted permission to officers and staff to take leave in a letter to the chief secretary of Punjab.

The caretaker government will permit the transfer of Grade 19 and Secretariat Group subordinate personnel.

The panel also authorised the government to appoint and transfer Grade 17 and subordinate officers and staff, and requested that the government send the commission the specifics of the appointment and transfer orders.

The Election Commission will authorise the appointment and transfer of Grade 20, 21, and 22 officers and police. Meanwhile, a critical conference regarding election preparations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) has been rescheduled.

The date of the meeting has been changed at the request of the chief secretary and inspector general of K-P, according to Election Commission sources.

The Election Commission has invited both of them to a special meeting on Friday, which will be presided over by the chief election commissioner (CEC).

The meeting will go over K-security P’s condition and arrangements.

Additionally, the requisite protection for the Punjab Assembly elections could not be supplied to the provincial election commissioner and returning officials.

The provincial election chief informed the Electoral Commission about the security situation, according to Election Commission sources. He claimed that the ROs were not given with the necessary security.

There is a lot of rush when it comes to submitting nomination papers in the offices of the ROs, and there is a tense environment there because of the crowd, he told the Election Commission.

He also stated that clashes are taking place between candidates and supporters, and that if this continues, the election schedule in Lahore will have to be postponed.

According to sources, the Election Commission is expected to take note of the provincial election commissioner’s concerns.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
