Disney/Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine continues to break records, earning $97 million in ticket sales over the weekend in North American theaters, according to Exhibitor Relations.
This brings its domestic total to $395.6 million, making it the eighth-best second weekend ever, as reported by Variety. Internationally, the film has achieved $428 million in ticket sales.
Starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, the movie has set a new record for the highest domestic gross for an R-rated feature, surpassing Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ ($370 million, not adjusted for inflation).
Universal’s Twisters holds second place, earning $22.7 million from Friday to Sunday.

Warner Bros.’ new film Trap takes third place with $15.6 million.
Analyst David A. Gross described this as “a soft opening for an M. Night Shyamalan suspense crime thriller,” noting that both reviews and audience scores have been “lukewarm.” Josh Hartnett stars as a serial killer evading the police while at a concert with his daughter. Shyamalan largely self-financed Trap, whose 1999 blockbuster The Sixth Sense grossed $673 million.
Universal’s Despicable Me 4 slips to fourth place, earning $11.3 million.
The film’s domestic total stands at $314 million, with $386 million earned internationally.
Disney’s Inside Out 2 drops to fifth place, bringing in $6.7 million.
With a domestic gross of $627 million and an international total of $928 million, Inside Out 2 has surpassed $1.5 billion, making it the top animated film of all time, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Rounding out the top 10 are:
