The Faisalabad Police has directed all commercial establishments across the district to install CCTV Cameras within one month. The order applies to shops, departmental stores, wholesale markets, shopping malls, and other business premises.
The directive was issued by City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain. The initiative aims to improve public safety and help prevent child sexual abuse and other criminal activities in the city.
According to the official notification, businesses that fail to install CCTV Cameras within the given deadline may face legal action. Authorities warned that violations could lead to criminal cases being registered against owners. In some cases, business premises may also be sealed.
Officials said the decision was made after an increase in reported child sexual abuse cases in Faisalabad. Police believe surveillance systems can help monitor public spaces, support investigations, and improve overall security.
Official records show that 330 cases involving the sexual abuse of minor boys and girls were reported between January 1 and June 30, 2026. The figures highlight the growing concern over child protection in the district.
The reported cases were recorded across different police divisions. Lyallpur Town reported 25 cases, while Madina Town recorded 80 cases. Iqbal Division registered 71 cases, Jaranwala Division reported 82 cases, and Sadar Division recorded 72 cases during the six-month period.
Police records also provide an update on the legal progress of these cases. Challans in 154 cases have been completed and submitted to the courts. Another 118 cases remain under investigation, with challans still pending.
In addition, six cases were submitted to the courts under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code with incomplete challans. Official records further show that 48 cases were later dismissed.
CPO Tanveer Hussain said installing CCTV Cameras is not only intended to help prevent child sexual abuse but also to reduce theft, robbery, and other crimes. He said surveillance footage can assist law enforcement agencies in identifying suspects and investigating incidents more effectively.
The police chief urged all business owners to complete the installation process without delay. He advised them to meet the legal requirement before the one-month deadline expires to avoid enforcement action.
Authorities said the campaign is part of broader efforts to strengthen public security across Faisalabad. They believe increased surveillance will help create a safer environment for residents, shoppers, and business owners.
