Aamir Khan's Daughter Addresses Silence on CJP Protest

Ira Khan, daughter of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, has opened up about why she chose not to speak publicly during the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led student protests. She explained that she intentionally avoids emotionally distressing content because it affects her mental well-being and leaves her feeling overwhelmed.

In a video shared on Instagram, the 29-year-old said she did not believe she had anything valuable to add to the ongoing discussion. According to Ira, remaining silent was a conscious decision rather than a lack of concern for the issues being raised.

“I didn’t feel I had anything meaningful to contribute to the conversation,” she said, adding that she was not emotionally connected enough to comment publicly.

Ira also revealed that she deliberately avoids consuming disturbing news, including videos of protests or violence. She explained that although she stays informed about major events, she chooses not to watch graphic footage or spend time exploring such content on social media because it deeply affects her emotionally.

She said that exposing herself to distressing images often leaves her feeling anxious, helpless, and emotionally drained. For that reason, she limits her interaction with such material to protect her mental health.

Ira clarified that distancing herself from emotionally intense content should not be interpreted as indifference. Instead, she described it as a personal coping mechanism that helps her maintain emotional balance.

Her comments came shortly after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced the end of its nationwide protests following successful negotiations with the government. The student-led movement had demanded accountability over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak and ultimately achieved one of its primary objectives with the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

While Ira Khan chose to remain away from the public demonstrations, her cousin Imran Khan participated in protests held in Mumbai to show support for the student movement. Her remarks have since sparked discussions online about mental health, public expectations from celebrities, and the different ways individuals choose to respond to major social and political events.
