Azhar Mahmood Appointed Pakistan Cricket Team's Head Coach For NZ Series

On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named former Test cricketer Azhar Mahmood as the head coach of the national cricket team for the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand. The series, consisting of five T20I matches, is scheduled to take place from April 18 to 27, with all games set to be held in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The squad for the New Zealand T20 series will be announced on Tuesday, April 9.

During his cricketing career, Azhar Mahmood participated in 164 matches, achieving 162 wickets and scoring 2,421 runs. He previously served as the bowling coach for the Pakistan men’s cricket team in 2016 and again in 2019.

In addition to Mahmood’s appointment, the PCB also named Wahab Riaz as the senior manager, Muhammad Yousaf as the batting coach, and Saeed Ajmal as the spin bowling coach. Other appointments include Mansoor Rana as the team manager, Aftab Khan as the fielding coach, Cliffe Deacon as the physiotherapist, Drikus Saaiman as the strength and conditioning coach, Talha Butt as the analyst, Irtiza Komail as the security manager, Raza Rashid Kitchlew as the media and digital media manager, Zain Maqsood as the videographer, Khurram Sarwar as the doctor, and Muhammad Imran as the masseur.
