Expressing strong support for the armed forces, Dr. Alvi lamented the strained relations between PTI and the establishment, advocating for reconciliation through dialogue and forgiveness from both sides.
He warned against escalating tensions, emphasizing that failure to address the current deadlock could lead to further deterioration. Dr. Alvi criticized the disparate treatment of political figures and highlighted the role of social media in exposing injustices globally, noting restrictions on social media in Pakistan.
Welcoming a recent Saudi delegation visit, Dr. Alvi anticipated economic benefits for Pakistan through increased investment. He also addressed allegations of intelligence agencies’ interference in judicial affairs and criticized the conduct of the Punjab Police, condemning reported instances of harassment and intrusion into citizens’ homes.
PTI leader Shaukat Basra echoed Dr. Alvi’s sentiments, advocating for Imran Khan’s release as a potential catalyst for improving PTI-establishment relations. Meanwhile, the party officially launched a movement advocating for Khan’s release, organizing protest demonstrations across various sectors of the provincial capital.
One such demonstration took place at Shalimar Link Road, led by Lahore’s General Secretary Hafiz Zeeshan Rashid. Rashid emphasized the need for a consistent and peaceful movement for Khan’s release, expressing discontent over his incarceration and citing it as an unjustified act that cannot be met with silence from PTI supporters.
Rashid criticized such political vendettas as unprecedented in the nation’s history and emphasized the importance of popular support for sustainable governance, predicting that with the people’s endorsement, Tehreek-e-Insaf would soon assume power across all provinces, including the federation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
