Lahore Airport Schedules Hit Hard As Fog Delays Over 25 Flights

Over 25 flights were delayed at Lahore Airport due to dense fog, severely disrupting air travel and compounding winter travel chaos across Punjab, officials and airline sources confirmed Monday. Low visibility at Allama Iqbal International Airport forced multiple departure and arrival schedule changes, affecting both domestic and international services.

According to Civil Aviation officials, poor visibility in the early morning hours led to delays for more than 25 flights, with some scheduled departures pushed back by several hours as pilots awaited improved weather conditions. Airlines were forced to reschedule slots, and several flights were held on tarmacs before departure clearance was granted under safety protocols.

The dense fog blanketing Lahore was part of a broader weather disturbance affecting large parts of Punjab, where visibility dropped to dangerously low levels on major motorways and highways. Travel advisories issued by authorities urged commuters to avoid unnecessary journeys, while closures on key routes were reported to protect motorists.

In the midst of this travel disruption, dense fog forced the closure of multiple motorways in Punjab, creating further hurdles for road travellers and logistics operations across the province. According to authorities, the M‑2, M‑3, M‑4, and M‑11 motorways were among the key routes suspended due to near‑zero visibility.

Civil Aviation and Meteorological Department officials noted that seasonal fog episodes typically begin in late December and can persist into January, but the intensity of this year’s thick fog has been unusually severe, triggering widespread delays at airports and transport corridors. Commuters were told to plan ahead and check flight statuses before travelling to the airport.

As fog conditions persist, over 25 flights delayed at Lahore Airport due to fog remain a key highlight of travel disruption, underscoring how winter weather continues to challenge Punjab’s connectivity and commuter safety.
