Seven Killed in Oil Tanker-Coach Collision in Chaghi

At least seven people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a horrific collision between an oil tanker and a passenger coach in Balochistan’s Chaghi district. The tragic accident took place on a highway connecting remote areas of the district, once again exposing the deadly risks faced by travelers due to poor road safety and reckless driving.

According to officials, the passenger coach was en route to its destination when it collided head-on with an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the crash was extremely severe, leaving both vehicles badly mangled. Several passengers lost their lives on the spot, while others were trapped inside the wreckage, crying out for help.

Rescue operations were launched soon after the incident was reported. Levies force personnel, along with local residents, reached the site and began efforts to pull victims from the damaged vehicles. Due to the remote location and limited emergency facilities in the area, rescue work faced significant delays. Heavy machinery was later used to clear the road and recover bodies.

The injured passengers were shifted to nearby health facilities, where doctors described the condition of some victims as critical. Due to the lack of advanced medical care in the district, several injured individuals were referred to hospitals in Quetta for further treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that the death toll could rise due to the seriousness of injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the coach appeared to be speeding at the time of the accident. Some locals also pointed to poor road conditions and a lack of clear traffic signage as contributing factors. The collision caused traffic to remain suspended for several hours, creating difficulties for travelers and transporters.

Authorities have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Initial findings suggest negligence and overspeeding may have played a major role. Officials have stated that action will be taken if any violations are found during the inquiry.

The tragic incident has sparked renewed concern over the safety of long-distance travel in Balochistan. Citizens and road safety advocates have urged authorities to enforce traffic laws more strictly, ensure proper vehicle fitness checks, and improve emergency response systems to prevent such deadly accidents in the future.
