The Punjab government has successfully allotted 720 flats to industrial workers through a transparent balloting process, marking a significant step toward providing affordable housing for laborers across the province. The initiative aims to improve living conditions for industrial employees and support their welfare by ensuring access to decent residential facilities.
The balloting ceremony was conducted under strict monitoring by the relevant housing authorities to ensure fairness and transparency. Workers from various industrial estates participated, and each selected beneficiary received official confirmation of their flat allocation. Officials emphasized that such initiatives are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift the living standards of the working class.
The flats, constructed under the Punjab Industrial Workers Housing Scheme, are located in well-planned residential areas with essential facilities such as roads, electricity, water supply, and security arrangements. Authorities stated that all flats have been designed keeping affordability and accessibility in mind, making them suitable for middle- and lower-income industrial families.
Government officials present at the ceremony highlighted that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to social welfare and labor rights. They urged beneficiaries to complete all formalities, including documentation and possession processes, to ensure smooth handover of their flats. The project also aims to create a sense of ownership and stability among industrial workers, encouraging long-term settlement and community development.
Many workers expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating that owning a flat would provide them and their families with security and peace of mind. The government assured that similar housing schemes will continue in the future to accommodate more workers and address the growing demand for affordable housing.
The initiative has received positive feedback from labor unions and social organizations, praising the transparent balloting system and the government’s focus on welfare-oriented projects. Officials confirmed that periodic inspections will be carried out to ensure maintenance of housing facilities and to address any concerns of residents promptly.
