Pakistan Customs successfully intercepted a large consignment of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine) worth Rs910 million during a major operation on a Daewoo bus at IP-JCP Aman Mela, Peshawar on Wednesday.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) stated that the operation was based on credible information from the Deputy Collector Customs, D.I. Khan-II, under the guidance of the Collector Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar. Customs officials recovered the narcotics, which were concealed inside three specially designed inverters on the bus.
The seized consignment included 15 packets of ICE, weighing 15,350 grams (net 15,200 grams after sampling). The narcotics are valued at Rs910.2 million, while the Daewoo bus is worth Rs15 million, making the total estimated value Rs925.2 million. The driver and conductor were arrested immediately, and an FIR was registered against them.
During the transportation of the recovered narcotics, customs staff came under indiscriminate fire from unidentified miscreants. The swift and courageous response of the customs team, supported by Pakistan Army troops and local police, ensured the safety of the personnel and the consignment.
The seized narcotics were safely escorted to the State Warehouse in D.I. Khan, with no loss of life or property. The FBR praised the professionalism and quick action of the officials involved, emphasizing that the major operation demonstrates Pakistan Customs’ ongoing commitment to combating smuggling and organized crime.
This major operation highlights the vigilance of Pakistan Customs in preventing the illegal import of narcotics and protecting public safety. Authorities continue to monitor transportation routes and implement strict checks to prevent such incidents in the future.
