An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has taken strict legal action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership over their alleged involvement in the November 26 protest. The court has issued arrest warrants for PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram and ordered the authorities to block the passports of senior leaders Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra presided over the proceedings that involved several PTI members accused of participating in unlawful demonstrations. The court expressed frustration over Sheikh Waqas Akram’s continued absence from hearings and issued his arrest warrants due to non-compliance with previous notices.
Additionally, Judge Sipra directed immigration authorities to block the passports of Omar Ayub and Zartaj Gul, arguing that such action was necessary to ensure their presence in future hearings. The authorities have been instructed to provide a full compliance report to the court as soon as possible.
The judge emphasized timely progress in the case and ordered all concerned individuals to appear at the next scheduled hearing on December 3.
This development adds to the mounting legal pressure on PTI leaders, many of whom are already facing multiple cases linked to protest activities and alleged violations of law.
