Saudi Arabia is all set to launch a new online platform that will allow illegal residents to leave the country voluntarily. This new system, called the “Self-Deportation Platform,” aims to make the process of returning home easier and faster for those living in the Kingdom without valid documents.
According to the Saudi Passport Authority (Jawazat), people who have violated residency, labor, or border rules will be able to register online, submit their travel details, and complete their departure process without needing to visit any government office.
Officials said the move is part of Saudi Arabia’s larger plan to use digital technology for better immigration control. The system will also reduce pressure on law enforcement and help manage the large number of illegal residents in the country.
The Kingdom has recently been running campaigns to identify and deport illegal workers and residents. In the past few months, thousands have been arrested and sent back to their countries.
The new platform will be launched soon after technical testing is complete. Once active, it will be accessible in multiple languages and linked to other government databases.
Saudi officials say this initiative is a humane step to help people leave the country legally without facing detention or penalties, as long as they come forward voluntarily.
