CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Brunei, emphasizing the importance of military partnerships for regional peace and security. During his official visit, the CJCSC highlighted Pakistan’s continued efforts to enhance collaboration in training, intelligence sharing, and defence production.
The CJCSC expressed that defence cooperation with Brunei reflects a shared vision of stability and progress in the Asia-Pacific region. He noted that Pakistan’s armed forces remain dedicated to expanding their strategic partnerships with friendly nations, ensuring mutual growth and preparedness in an evolving global environment.
General Shamshad appreciated Brunei’s role in maintaining peace within the ASEAN region and discussed avenues for further cooperation, including military training programs and joint exercises. He stated that Pakistan’s long-standing military diplomacy focuses on mutual respect, professionalism, and technological advancement, elements that also define its relations with Brunei.
The visit comes at a time when Pakistan has been actively engaging with multiple nations to enhance bilateral defence ties. Recently, President Asif Ali Zardari and the Emir of Qatar agreed to expand defence collaboration between their countries, reflecting Islamabad’s broader regional outreach. The development aligns with Pakistan’s ongoing initiatives to build stronger military and economic relations across Asia, as seen in this recent meeting.
The CJCSC reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces continue to contribute towards international peacekeeping efforts and remain open to learning from partners like Brunei in areas of maritime safety, disaster management, and defence technology. Officials described the talks as productive, adding that both sides showed willingness to strengthen cooperation through regular dialogue and institutional frameworks.
Observers believe such engagements signal Pakistan’s intent to project balanced defence diplomacy, maintaining harmony between its regional and global partnerships. With the CJCSC’s renewed focus on strategic cooperation, Pakistan’s defence cooperation with Brunei is expected to evolve into a stronger, more dynamic partnership in the coming years.
