Police Arrest Suspect in Lahore Acid Attack Case

Police have arrested a man accused of throwing acid on a young woman after her family rejected his marriage proposal. The arrest was made after the victim’s mother sought justice during an open public hearing with Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran.

According to officials, the victim’s mother approached the DIG and alleged that the accused attacked her daughter out of resentment after the family refused his marriage proposal. She requested immediate action against the suspect and called for justice for her daughter.

Taking immediate notice of the complaint, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran directed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Factory Area Police Station to register a case without delay. He also ordered the police to ensure the swift arrest of the accused.

Following the instructions, police arrested the suspect, identified as Fahad, and took him into custody. Authorities said further legal proceedings are underway in accordance with the registered case.

Condemning the attack, DIG Faisal Kamran described violence against women as unacceptable and said such crimes would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He reiterated the police’s commitment to taking strict action against offenders involved in attacks targeting women.

The DIG said there would be no compromise on the protection of women and assured that anyone responsible for such acts would face the full force of the law. He added that the police remain committed to ensuring justice for victims of gender-based violence.

Acid attacks are considered among the most serious forms of violence against women and can cause permanent physical and psychological trauma. Law enforcement authorities have pledged to continue strict action against those involved in such crimes.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the case as legal proceedings continue.
