Pakistan Army May Join Global Peacekeeping Mission for Gaza

Pakistan is considering deploying its armed forces to the International Stability Force (ISF) in Gaza, with civil-military consultations reportedly in the final phase, signaling a strong likelihood of participation.

The multinational force, composed mainly of Muslim-majority nations, will oversee Gaza’s internal security, disarm Hamas, secure border crossings, and facilitate humanitarian and reconstruction efforts under an interim Palestinian Authority.

While the United States will not deploy its own troops, it is coordinating with countries including Indonesia, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. However, Israel has openly opposed Turkey’s potential involvement, warning against its military presence in Gaza.

The development coincides with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Egypt and Jordan, where discussions focus on post-ceasefire stabilization and implementation of the U.S.-brokered Gaza peace framework.

With extensive UN peacekeeping experience—over 200,000 troops in more than 40 missions—Pakistan is viewed as a capable contributor to the ISF. Officials see the move as an opportunity to enhance Pakistan’s global standing, deepen ties with Washington, and expand regional and defense cooperation.
