KP Governor Denies Receiving Gandapur’s Resignation; PTI Demands Immediate Acceptance

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor, Haji Ghulam Ali Kundi, has stated that he has not officially received the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. This contradicts claims by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who said the letter was submitted at the Governor House late Wednesday night.

In an interview with Samaa TV, the KP Governor clarified that none of his authorized officials, including the Chief Secretary Officer (CSO), Military Secretary (MS), or secretary, had received the resignation. He emphasized, “Officially sent items are not left at the gate.” The governor added that he would act immediately once the resignation is formally received.

PTI strongly rejected the KP Governor’s statement. Sheikh Waqas Akram, PTI’s Central Secretary for Information, shared a copy of the resignation letter on social media. He claimed it was delivered to the Governor House at 10:45 pm, and the staff issued a written receipt. PTI insists that the resignation was officially submitted and acknowledged.

The KP Governor dismissed these claims as “fake news,” stating that all official correspondence must go through authorized channels. He reaffirmed that no document can be accepted by gate staff or unauthorized personnel. The governor maintained that he will follow the constitutional procedure once the resignation is received.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar urged the KP Governor to immediately accept Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation to ensure a smooth transition of power. He noted there is no constitutional timeframe for accepting a chief minister’s resignation and said delays serve no legal purpose. Gauhar also dismissed rumors of defection among PTI provincial assembly members.

The conflicting claims between the KP Governor and PTI leadership have heightened political uncertainty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If confirmed, Gandapur’s resignation could lead to a change in provincial leadership, potentially reshaping the political balance in the region.
