Arshad Nadeem Blames Injury After Defeat In World Athletics Event

Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem faced disappointment at the World Athletics Championship 2025 after failing to secure a medal in the javelin throw final.

The star athlete later revealed that an injury had disrupted his training and fitness before the competition. Despite this challenge, he expressed pride in representing Pakistan at the global stage.

In a message on X, formerly Twitter, Arshad Nadeem thanked his fans for their “unwavering support and love.” He admitted he was not satisfied with the result but promised to return stronger in future events.

“I know I let you down, but I will work harder and come back better. I have been dealing with an injury since July 4, which affected my preparation,” he wrote.

During the final, Nadeem opened with a throw of 82.73 meters. His second attempt was a foul, followed by a 82.75m throw. His fourth was also ruled a foul, leaving him outside the cut for the top eight competitors.

With Nadeem’s exit, Pakistan’s medal hopes ended on Thursday. Meanwhile, Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago won the world title with a throw of 88.16m. It was his first major victory since the 2012 Olympics.

Anderson Peters of Grenada secured silver with 87.38m, while Curtis Thompson of the United States claimed bronze with 86.67m. The medal was the first for the U.S. in men’s javelin since 2007.

India’s Sachin Yadav recorded a personal best of 86.27m to finish fourth. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra managed 84.03m, placing eighth. Germany’s Julian Weber underperformed with 86.11m despite entering as the world leader.

Kenya’s Julius Yego, a former world champion, was forced to withdraw after suffering an ankle injury mid-competition.

Despite the setback, Arshad Nadeem assured fans that he would “keep pushing” for Pakistan and return stronger in the future.
