Qatar Calls For Joint Response Following Israeli Strike On Capital Doha

Qatar has called for a collective regional response after Israel launched a deadly strike on Doha, killing at least seven people. The attack, which targeted Hamas officials, also claimed the lives of two Qatari security officers.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said Arab states are holding consultations to decide on a joint reaction. He stressed that the strike was not only a threat to Qatar but also to the entire Gulf region.

“There is a response that will happen from the region,” he said, adding that discussions with regional partners are already underway. The prime minister also accused Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing the Middle East into “chaos.”

Arab leaders traveled to Doha soon after the attack to show solidarity with Qatar. Reports suggest that Gulf states are preparing legal action against Israel, with a regional meeting expected to be hosted in Doha. According to Al Jazeera, several countries are forming a legal team to pursue the case.

The Israeli strike came during a meeting of Hamas leaders in Qatar, where they were reviewing a ceasefire proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump. Hamas confirmed its leadership survived, describing the attack as an assassination attempt.

The strike has drawn widespread condemnation from international communities. Analysts warn that the incident could trigger more instability across the Gulf. Human rights groups continue to accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza, where more than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023.

Qatar’s prime minister stressed that the attack aimed to undermine peace efforts in Gaza. “Everything about the meeting was well known to the Israelis and the Americans. It is not something we are hiding,” he said.

As tensions rise, Qatar is emerging as a central player in regional diplomacy, urging unity to protect the Gulf from further escalation.
