Maryam Nawaz Voices Concern Over Egg-Throwing Incident Targeting Aleema Khan

Senior political leader Maryam Nawaz has expressed concern over the egg-throwing incident targeting Aleema Khan, sister of the PTI founder. She called the act inappropriate and stressed that such incidents have no place in political culture.

Speaking about the matter, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of maintaining respect and dignity in politics. She said disagreements should be resolved through dialogue, not through actions that humiliate individuals. Her remarks come as leaders across party lines condemned the episode.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari also strongly criticized the incident. She described it as “regrettable and unfortunate,” adding that Punjab Chief Minister had shown concern as well. Bukhari reminded that political differences must never lead to personal attacks.

At a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari noted that she had already condemned the act on social media. She also raised a broader question about the origins of such practices, recalling that in the past shoes had been hurled at politicians, and some groups celebrated those actions.

“This is not the way to engage in politics. Retribution is a frightening thing,” Bukhari said. She urged political workers to reject such behavior and focus instead on meaningful political debate.

The egg-throwing incident sparked widespread reaction, with many leaders urging restraint. Maryam Nawaz said politics must remain centered on issues of governance and public service rather than actions that create division and disrespect.

She reiterated that all political parties should avoid confrontational tactics and promote tolerance. According to her, the dignity of every citizen, regardless of political affiliation, must be respected.

The statements from Maryam Nawaz and Azma Bukhari underline a shared concern for preserving democratic values. Both leaders emphasized that political rivalries should not translate into actions that erode public trust and damage the political environment.
