Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Tax Revised – Check Latest Rates

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a revision in toll tax rates for the M2 Motorway, which connects Lahore and Islamabad. The new rates will come into effect from August 26, 2025, and remain valid until August 25, 2026.

This annual adjustment is made under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement with the Frontier Works Organization’s subsidiary, Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited. The agreement allows for toll increases to cover rising costs and ensure proper maintenance of the Motorway.

Updated Toll Rates for M2 Motorway

The revised toll charges vary depending on vehicle type and distance covered. The following are the updated full-route rates:

Cars, Jeeps, Taxis (Class 1): Rs1,330 (Rs3.72/km)

Wagons (Class 2): Rs2,240 (Rs6.24/km)

Buses: Rs3,130 (Rs8.73/km)

2-Axle Trucks (Class 4): Rs4,460 (Rs12.45/km)

3-Axle Trucks (Class 5): Rs5,800 (Rs16.20/km)

Articulated Trucks (Class 6): Rs7,460 (Rs20.83/km)

These rates apply for the entire 357-kilometre stretch of the Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad.

Why the Increase?

The toll increase helps fund regular maintenance, road safety upgrades, and improved services on the M2. Officials say the goal is to maintain the standard of infrastructure and ensure smooth travel for all users.

What This Means for Travelers

Daily commuters and transport companies using the Motorway should review the new charges before planning their trips. The increased rates may affect travel budgets and transport costs, especially for commercial operators.

The NHA encourages drivers to stay informed through official channels and prepare accordingly for the changes taking effect from August 26.
