NBP Congratulates Pakistan Hockey Team on Reaching FIH Nations Cup Final

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has congratulated Pakistan’s national hockey team for reaching the final of the FIH Nations Cup. The team secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over France in a dramatic penalty shootout, marking a key moment in Pakistan’s hockey comeback.

NBP has played a major role in promoting hockey in the country since forming its team in 1966. Its Sports Department, launched in 1974, has helped develop many top players. Over the years, NBP athletes have contributed to Pakistan’s victories in major events like the Olympics, World Cup, Champions Trophy, and Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

Several NBP players and coaches were part of this successful tournament run. Team captain Ammad Shakeel Butt, who has received the President’s Award and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, led the squad with skill and determination. Player Junaid Manzoor also made valuable contributions on the field.

The coaching team included Head Coach Tahir Zaman, Assistant Coaches Asif Ahmed Khan and Zeeshan Ashraf, and Goalkeeping Coach Mazhar Abbas. All are key members of the NBP hockey program and played vital roles in guiding the team to the final.

To celebrate the team’s achievement, NBP held a ceremony at its head office. NBP President and CEO Mr. Rehmat Ali Hasnie attended the event and praised the players for their dedication. He presented shields to honour their efforts. Senior management also joined in to mark this proud occasion for both the bank and the nation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hasnie said the team’s performance signaled a new era for Pakistan hockey. He noted that NBP would continue to support sports talent across the country through its development programs. “NBP remains committed to nurturing future stars and reviving the glory of Pakistan hockey,” he added.

As Pakistan looks forward to more success, NBP will continue backing its players and the national team on the international stage.NBP recently held a special ceremony to honour the national hockey team’s success, where then-President & CEO Mr. Rehmat Ali Hasnie praised the players. Meanwhile, a new leadership era begins as the Cabinet appoints new NBP President, marking a fresh chapter for the bank.
