Crackdown on Illegal Mobile Cloning Continues

The PTA emphasized that cloned and tampered mobile devices pose significant national security risks by enabling anonymous and untraceable communications. Such devices are frequently linked to cybercrimes, financial fraud, abductions, and other illicit activities.

“This raid reflects PTA’s unwavering commitment to curbing illegal mobile phone practices and safeguarding public safety,” the authority stated.

Public Awareness and Regulatory Measures

The PTA urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to IMEI tampering or mobile phone cloning. The authority reaffirmed that violators would face strict legal consequences under Pakistan’s cybersecurity and telecommunications laws.

Joint Operations for Secure Communications

Highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration, PTA acknowledged the role of the FIA and law enforcement in maintaining secure mobile communication channels across Pakistan. These joint efforts are key to ensuring that mobile networks remain safe, lawful, and traceable.
