Aviation Disruptions Persist In India Despite Ceasefire With Pakistan

Despite the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, flight operations across at least 24 Indian airports remained suspended, with 444 scheduled flights cancelled amid continued security concerns and military alertness along border regions.

Indian civil aviation authorities reported that airports in key northern cities — including Amritsar, Srinagar, Jammu, Ladakh, Dharamshala, Shimla, Adampur, and Chandigarh — remained non-operational. Srinagar Airport, in particular, has faced closure for seven consecutive days, while similar suspensions affected Leh, Jammu, and Chandigarh, grounding dozens of flights daily.

The disruption follows Pakistan’s retaliatory military strikes after an alleged Indian incursion, including claims of the destruction of India’s S-400 air defence system at the Adampur air base using hypersonic missiles. Although a ceasefire was declared two days ago following diplomatic intervention by the United States, Indian authorities have maintained heightened vigilance.

India’s Ministry of Defence and Civil Aviation Authority have yet to confirm when normal air services will resume, as sensitive border areas remain on high alert. Regional experts caution that, despite the truce, both nations are continuing precautionary military postures.
