The Punjab Home Department has extended the deadline for arms dealers to upload their required information to the online digital inventory registration system.
The deadline has been extended by 10 days, with dealers now required to complete the process by September 6, 2026.
All arms dealers in Punjab must register their existing stock and transaction records through the designated online portal.
The system requires dealers to provide complete information about firearms and ammunition in their possession.
Details of purchase and sale transactions must also be uploaded to the digital inventory system.
According to a Home Department spokesperson, the online portal will maintain records of firearms and ammunition held by registered dealers across the province.
The system will also contain information about the purchase and sale of arms and ammunition.
The department said the digital record is intended to improve monitoring of arms dealers and their commercial activities.
Out of 413 registered arms dealers in Punjab, 230 have already entered their information into the digital inventory system.
The remaining dealers have been given additional time to complete their registration and upload the required records.
Deputy commissioners are assisting arms dealers in their respective districts during the registration process.
The deadline extension was announced during a training workshop held in Lahore on Tuesday.
The workshop was organised to help arms dealers understand the Punjab Arms Licence Portal and the digital inventory registration process.
More than 350 arms dealers participated in the workshop. Some dealers also joined the session online from deputy commissioner offices across the province.
Officials provided guidance on entering inventory information and recording purchase and sale transactions on the online system.
The Home Department said the digital registration system is part of efforts to reduce crime and curb the illegal trade of arms in Punjab.
Authorities believe maintaining updated digital records will make it easier to monitor the movement and ownership of firearms.
The department has also warned dealers about the consequences of failing to meet the new deadline.
Dealers who do not upload their inventories could face legal action under the relevant laws.
Their licences may also be suspended if they fail to comply with the registration requirements.
Authorities may further seal the businesses of non-compliant dealers and impose fines according to the law.
Officials have therefore urged all remaining arms dealers to complete the registration process before September 6.
Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf and Deputy Secretary Judicial Muhammad Murtaza were among the officials involved in the training session.
NADRA officials also provided guidance to dealers on using the digital system.
The Home Department is now expected to monitor compliance across the province as the extended deadline approaches.
The move marks another step toward digitising arms-related records and increasing oversight of the licensed arms trade in Punjab.
