Iran Unveils Qassem Basir Ballistic Missile with Enhanced Capabilities
Iran has officially unveiled its newest ballistic missile, the Qassem Basir, a domestically developed solid-fuel missile with an impressive 1,200-kilometer range. The announcement was made on Sunday during a high-profile military event, marking a significant milestone in Iran’s missile technology.
The Qassem Basir is an upgraded version of the Martyr Haj Qassem missile, featuring a redesigned warhead that enhances maneuverability and is specifically engineered to evade advanced missile defense systems. Iranian military officials highlighted that these modifications, along with its improved flight capabilities, make the missile highly resilient in contested environments.

A standout feature of the missile is its thermal imaging guidance system, which improves precision targeting while making the missile resistant to electronic warfare. Notably, the missile does not rely on GPS navigation, adding an additional layer of resistance against jamming or misdirection.
Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s Defense Minister, confirmed the successful test of the missile, which was fired from over 1,200 kilometers and accurately hit its intended target. The missile performed flawlessly even under intense electronic interference.
“The Qassem Basir represents a new generation of precision strike capabilities,” Nasirzadeh stated. “Its advanced guidance and agility enable it to penetrate multi-layered defense systems.”
In his address, Nasirzadeh also criticized the United States, accusing Washington of “contradictory behavior” by advocating for diplomacy while simultaneously issuing military threats. He argued that such actions destabilize the region.
The Qassem Basir’s unveiling underscores Iran’s continued focus on self-reliance in military development amidst rising tensions in the Middle East.
