Displacement Crisis Grows as 69% of Gaza City Ordered to Evacuate

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has revealed that 69 percent of Gaza City is now covered by active Israeli military displacement orders, as the humanitarian situation continues to spiral. The orders, issued between March 18 and April 14, have forced hundreds of thousands to flee once again, with many having already been displaced multiple times.

Since the March 18 collapse of a temporary ceasefire, roughly 420,000 Palestinians have been newly displaced. UNRWA is now operating 115 shelters housing over 90,000 people, but aid efforts remain severely restricted due to Israeli blockades and continued hostilities.

The Gaza Health Ministry reports a death toll surpassing 51,200, with nearly 117,000 injured since the Israeli invasion began in October 2023. In the past 24 hours alone, at least 44 Palestinians were killed and 145 wounded.

Calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the unimpeded flow of aid have grown louder. However, aid deliveries have been blocked since March 2, further deepening Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe.

Israel is facing mounting legal pressure, with the ICC having issued war crimes arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, and a genocide case ongoing at the ICJ.
