The attack occurred in the Ab-e-Gum area near Mach Town in Kachhi district, where six armed men targeted the train, causing panic among the passengers.

In response to the assault, railway authorities halted the Karachi-bound Bolan Mail at Sibi and the Peshawar-Quetta Jaffer Express as a precautionary measure. The Sibi hospital has declared a state of emergency, preparing for potential casualties.

Balochistan has seen a rise in militant attacks in recent months, though no group has claimed responsibility for this attack on the Jaffer Express.
