Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Senator Shibli Faraz announced that the party will collaborate with the opposition alliance to stage protests against the government after Eidul Fitr. Speaking outside a court in Peshawar, he confirmed ongoing negotiations with opposition parties, stating that they will finalize plans in the coming days.
Faraz criticized the government’s tenure, calling it Pakistan’s “darkest period,” accusing it of passing laws through coercion rather than democratic means. He also condemned the expansion of the federal cabinet, labeling it a reward for turncoats and miscreants, while highlighting rising debt, inflation, and security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

He emphasized PTI’s commitment to taking to the streets post-Eid and acknowledged ongoing discussions with opposition leaders. However, he noted that backdoor negotiations sometimes resume but often fail. Meanwhile, PTI leaders continue facing legal battles, with the Peshawar High Court extending protective bail in their cases.
Efforts to form a grand opposition alliance remain uncertain as JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has yet to receive guarantees regarding PTI’s leadership structure. With Imran Khan in jail, the Maulana has sought clarity on whether Khan will lead decision-making or delegate authority to a representative.
