Afghan National Involved in Terrorism Killed in North Waziristan Operation

An Afghan national involved in terrorism within Pakistan was killed during a security operation in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The operation was confirmed in a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday. The individual was identified as Luqman Khan, also known as Nusrat, the son of Kamal Khan, from Spera district, Khost province, Afghanistan.

Pakistan has since approached the Interim Afghan Government to claim the body, given the individual’s Afghan citizenship. The ISPR emphasized that such incidents serve as “irrefutable evidence” of Afghan nationals’ involvement in terrorism within Pakistan. The statement further urged the Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities by preventing the use of Afghan soil by terrorists targeting Pakistan.

The issue of Afghan militants using their territory to launch attacks on Pakistan has been a recurring source of tension between the two neighboring countries. Pakistan has consistently called on Afghan authorities to take action against such groups to ensure regional peace and security.

In a separate intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the night of February 6-7, Pakistani security forces neutralized three more militants in the same Datta Khel area. According to the ISPR, the militants were targeted based on intelligence reports, and they were found disguised in burqas while attempting to flee the area. The security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorists, who had been involved in multiple acts of terrorism in the region.

A sanitisation operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining militant threats in the area. The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain stability in the region.
