Punjab Imposes Smoking Ban in Government and Private Schools

The Punjab government has implemented a ban on smoking and the use of tobacco-related products in all government and private schools across the province. The initiative aims to discourage smoking among students and foster a healthier environment within educational institutions.

An official notification from the Punjab school education secretary outlined that all district education authorities are required to enforce the ban strictly. The directive explicitly prohibits the use of cigarettes, vapes, nicotine pouches, sheesha, and other intoxicants within school premises.

The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and tobacco use in schools, and authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against any schools found violating this policy.
