PTI Leader Azam Swati Released from Attock Jail After Securing Bail
ATTOCK – Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati has been released from Attock Jail after securing post-arrest bail in a case related to a violent protest in Sangjani.
The 68-year-old former federal minister was granted bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) months after his detention. Swati was originally arrested in Islamabad during a protest in October 2023 and later transferred to Attock Jail.
Earlier, he had secured bail from the Anti-Terrorism and District Court of Islamabad in eight separate cases, which led to his release. However, he was immediately re-arrested in connection with another case filed at the Sangjani police station.

PTI Withdraws from Talks with Government
Meanwhile, PTI has announced its withdrawal from negotiations with the ruling coalition, citing the government’s failure to meet its demands.
Despite three rounds of talks, PTI had insisted on the formation of judicial commissions to investigate incidents of political violence, but the government did not agree to this request.
PTI Chairman Gohar Khan stated that the party has decided to end negotiations, accusing the government of not honoring its commitments. In contrast, government officials expressed surprise at PTI’s decision, maintaining that discussions were still in progress.
PTI had initially entered negotiations in December 2024, seeking the release of political prisoners and the formation of two judicial commissions. However, with talks now abandoned, PTI plans to resume protests and collaborate with other political groups moving forward.
