New N-Type Solar Panels Boost Power Output by 22% and Gain Popularity in Pakistan

Trinasolar’s Advanced n-type i-TOPCon Technology Gains Momentum in Pakistan with Successful Industrial Solar Projects

Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic and energy storage solutions, is making a significant impact in Pakistan’s industrial sectors by offering advanced, efficient, and cost-effective solar modules with its cutting-edge n-type i-TOPCon technology. As energy demand grows and industries seek ways to manage rising costs, Trinasolar’s technology is increasingly being recognized as a pivotal factor in Pakistan’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Yifeng Chen, Vice President of Trinasolar, shares, “TOPCon solar module technology will continue to be the trendsetter in the photovoltaic industry over the next five years.” Supported by data from InfoLink and other industry leaders, Chen’s perspective is widely shared, affirming that TOPCon has become the dominant technology in the solar industry. The technology is set to capture 80% of the market share in module shipments by next year, underlining its high efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.

Why TOPCon is the Future of Solar Power in Pakistan

Compared to other photovoltaic technologies, TOPCon offers superior manufacturing efficiency, a high industrialization rate, and low production costs. Trinasolar’s n-type i-TOPCon Vertex N modules are capable of achieving up to 1% higher cell efficiency and delivering an additional 30W of power output. This results in higher energy yields and greater returns on investment, making the technology especially beneficial in high-temperature regions like Pakistan’s Punjab, where energy efficiency is crucial.

Trinasolar is one of the pioneers in mass-producing TOPCon modules, being the first to manufacture modules with power exceeding 700W, directly catering to Pakistan’s growing demand for high-output solar panels. These modules provide greater electricity generation per square foot, reducing the number of panels required and lowering the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).

For example, in a typical 500kW commercial and industrial (C&I) solar installation, upgrading from p-type 670W modules (21.6% efficiency) to n-type 720W modules (23.2% efficiency) boosts capacity by an additional 37kW. This upgrade can result in an extra 4,316 kWh of monthly energy production, saving businesses up to 215,800 PKR (assuming a rate of 50 PKR/kWh), demonstrating the technology’s clear economic advantages.

Successful Solar Projects Highlight the Impact of i-TOPCon in Pakistan

Trinasolar has made considerable strides in Pakistan, with several high-profile solar installations completed over the past quarter. These successful projects span various industries and showcase the versatility of Trinasolar’s n-type i-TOPCon technology:

  • AT-TAHUR Limited (Prema Milk) in Kasur: A 202kW system installed in August 2024, generating 283,068 kWh annually with a 75% performance ratio, delivering reliable energy for agribusiness operations.
  • Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore: A 1,000kW installation, set for completion in December 2024, will produce 1.39 million kWh annually, ensuring a stable power supply for critical healthcare services.
  • Rafiq Gateway Private Limited – Fazal Cold Store in Lahore: A 999kW system, generating 1.35 million kWh annually, leveraging bifacial modules for maximum energy output to meet the needs of refrigeration.
  • Master Offisys Private Limited in Karachi: A 423kW system, completed in November 2024, will generate 612,815 kWh annually with a 76% performance ratio, highlighting the adaptability of the technology for urban manufacturing and office sectors.

These projects emphasize how Trinasolar’s technology provides financially sound investments, particularly in industries such as manufacturing and agribusiness, where rising electricity costs can be offset by the use of solar power.

A New Era of Solar Innovation: i-TOPCon Ultra Technology

On November 28, 2024, Trinasolar announced its groundbreaking i-TOPCon Ultra technology, which achieves an efficiency of 26.58% in laboratory conditions, setting a new record for TOPCon cells. This innovation is set to further upgrade Trinasolar’s Vertex N modules, offering power increases of up to 40W. The i-TOPCon Ultra technology promises to further enhance cell efficiency by more than 1%, enabling greater energy production with fewer modules. This translates into long-term savings on operational costs, reduced degradation rates, and a competitive edge for businesses in energy-intensive industries.

As Pakistan continues to embrace renewable energy solutions, Trinasolar’s commitment to advancing solar technology is helping the country’s industries become more energy-efficient and cost-effective, securing a sustainable future for businesses and the nation alike.
