For another day, Lahore remains the world’s most polluted city, with air quality reaching a hazardous AQI level of over 1000 on Sunday. The alarming pollution is primarily due to stubble burning in India, which has cast a thick layer of smoke over the region, making breathing difficult and reducing visibility.

Swiss IQAir reported an early morning AQI of around 800 for Lahore, with Delhi ranking as the second most polluted city at an AQI of 429. Other cities with high AQI levels include Cairo, Dhaka, Kolkata, and Dubai.

Due to the dangerous air quality, health officials advise residents, especially the elderly, to stay indoors and use face masks if they must go outside. The Punjab government recently delayed school start times to shield students from the severe pollution.
