Toyota and Subaru are expanding their electric vehicle (EV) lineup with a new SUV, set to enter production in January 2026. Unlike previous models, this EV will be produced at Subaru’s Yajima facility and will incorporate elements from the bZ4X and Solterra to streamline development and cut costs. The automakers plan to manufacture 15,000 to 20,000 units monthly, targeting North America, Europe, Japan, and possibly other global markets.
Pricing for the new SUV is yet to be determined, but current models are priced around $44,465 (bZ4X) and $46,340 (Solterra) in the U.S. Toyota has sold 13,577 units of the bZ4X, while Subaru’s Solterra saw 9,137 sales. In comparison, rivals like Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Kia’s EV6 have stronger sales figures.

In addition to this SUV, Toyota and Subaru are working on three more crossover EVs, with announcements expected in late 2025. Despite focusing on EVs, both companies continue to invest in combustion engine technologies, as revealed in a joint conference with Mazda earlier this year.
