Her return with ‘Ijazat’ was her first television appearance in seven years, with her last full-scale drama being in 2016. In a recent podcast, Mehwish addressed her decision to turn down Bollywood offers. She explained that despite receiving numerous proposals from the Indian film industry, she chose to remain focused on opportunities within Pakistan.
Mehwish cited the abundance of work in Pakistan and her involvement in the revival of Pakistani cinema as her reasons for staying. “I have countless opportunities here in Pakistan. I have been part of some of the biggest and most successful films, and I have received immense respect and love from my country,” she said.
She further emphasized her satisfaction with her career in Pakistan, stating, “After achieving so much recognition and success at home, I felt it was best to focus on my work here. People come to watch my films with their families, and that is a great achievement for me.”
