Late Tuesday, an Israeli air strike targeted a pickup truck in northeast Lebanon, according to two security sources who spoke to Reuters. The truck, which was near Chaat—a remote area close to the Syrian border—was reportedly carrying military equipment, but the driver survived the attack. It is believed that the equipment included a damaged rocket launcher destined for repair.
This strike follows one of the most intense exchanges of fire between the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and the Israeli military in the past ten months. The recent conflict escalated when Hezbollah launched drones and rockets at Israel early on Sunday, seeking revenge for the death of a top military commander killed by Israel last month.

Israel claimed that its strikes on Lebanon on Sunday targeted Hezbollah rocket launch sites and thwarted a potential broader attack. Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, asserted that the attack went as planned and that Israeli counterstrikes had only partially damaged Hezbollah’s launch sites.
On Tuesday, a UN peacekeeping force reported detecting a rocket launch from near one of its positions in southern Lebanon.
