The Punjab government is gearing up to assign a substantial development budget of Rs700 billion for the forthcoming fiscal year. This budget aims to drive progress and advancement across various sectors within the province.
A comprehensive overview of the budget reveals the inclusion of 4,211 schemes totaling Rs620.59 billion, with 2,805 ongoing schemes worth Rs391 billion and 1,391 new schemes worth Rs195.39 billion slated for initiation in the upcoming financial year. Additionally, Rs33.82 billion has been set aside for other development projects.

The budget also outlines plans to complete 1,863 schemes, with a focus on finalizing 1,617 ongoing schemes and introducing 246 new projects in the next financial year.
Among the targeted sectors, over Rs121 billion has been earmarked for road infrastructure projects, showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and transportation networks. Furthermore, the healthcare sector receives over Rs110 billion, highlighting the priority placed on improving healthcare facilities.
Other notable allocations include Rs14.4 billion for local government initiatives, Rs2 billion for special education, and Rs3.5 billion for literacy and non-formal education programs, emphasizing the government’s dedication to education and community empowerment.
Additionally, Rs10.79 billion has been allocated for the Department of Industries, while Rs37.38 billion is designated for the Planning and Development Department, according to the documents.
