The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) introduced this protocol during the Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA) meeting in Germany.

Saif Mohamed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of GCAA, underscored the importance of this protocol, affirming the authority’s commitment to maintaining global aviation safety standards through cooperation with international partners, as reported by Khaleej Times.

Aqeel Al Zarouni, Assistant Director-General of the Aviation Safety Affairs Sector, described the protocol as a significant advancement in combating communicable diseases. He noted its aim to enhance airport capabilities and foster closer cooperation between public health and civil aviation sectors.

Notably, Dubai has seen a significant recovery in its tourism sector, hosting 15.37 million overnight international visitors in the first 11 months of 2023. This figure is 2.5 percent higher than the 15 million visitors during the same period in 2019, before the pandemic halted travel, according to Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.

This new protocol reflects the UAE’s proactive approach to ensuring public health safety in air travel while supporting the resurgence of its tourism industry.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
