PTI Manifesto Advocates Independent Foreign Policy, Social Reforms

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]On Sunday, the beleaguered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming general elections in 2024, marking a significant move for the former ruling party that has been grappling with challenges. Named “Shandaar Pakistan, Shandaar Mustaqbil aur Kharaab Maazi sey chutkara” (Magnificent Pakistan, A Magnificent Future, and Liberation from a Dark Past), PTI’s manifesto outlines a comprehensive plan for bringing about social and constitutional reforms.

The launch of the manifesto comes at a time when PTI is facing a substantial crackdown, and the unveiling coincided with the party’s resumption of rallies, which had been suspended since the riots on May 9.

Barrister Gohar Khan, representing Imran Khan’s party, presented the key points of the manifesto during the launch, emphasizing the party’s commitment to improving the lives of the common man and farmers through increased earnings, investments, and job creation.

One of the primary pledges made by PTI in its manifesto is the pursuit of an independent foreign policy for Pakistan. The party aims to base its relations with all countries on national interests. Additionally, PTI proposed reducing the government’s tenure to four years, arguing that a five-year term exceeds the necessary time. To address injustices faced by the common man, a truth and reconciliation commission will be established.

PTI has long advocated for the prevalence of the rule of law and equal treatment for every citizen, rejecting the idea of dual legal standards for the elite and the poor. Gohar reiterated the party’s commitment to these principles and expressed the need to move forward as a united nation.

Embracing the vision of the ‘Riyasat-i-Madina’ model, PTI pledged to bring about societal change through new legislation. Noteworthy proposals include allowing the public to directly elect the prime minister and reducing the number of National Assembly seats.

The party’s acting leader also promised to reform the tax scheme and expand the tax bracket. In terms of sustainable energy, PTI plans to undertake large-scale solar energy projects. Additionally, the party outlined its strategy to introduce a universal health card, emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare for all citizens.

Educational reforms and the establishment of a uniform education system nationwide were highlighted as crucial components of PTI’s agenda. The party envisions new projects for the youth and landmark changes in the education sector. Gohar asserted that if PTI assumes power, the party is committed to providing social security for citizens. Furthermore, he underscored the party’s determination to eradicate corruption, promising to introduce initiatives that ensure stricter oversight.

In conclusion, PTI’s manifesto for the 2024 general elections encompasses a wide range of proposals aimed at bringing about transformative changes in various sectors of Pakistani society. The party’s commitment to social and constitutional reforms, coupled with its emphasis on an independent foreign policy, reflects a comprehensive vision for the future. As PTI navigates its challenges, the unveiling of this manifesto signals a renewed focus on policy and governance ahead of the upcoming elections.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
